Want to win a new car or sport utility? Seems everyone would like a free car, but they are so hard to find. Over the past couple of years, some of our most popular articles and posts have been those that directed our visitors to car sweepstakes and vehicle giveaways. Since it’s been several months since we searched the web and blogosphere to uncover eco-friendly and hybrid car contests, now seems like the perfect time to do it once again.
Today is March 8, 2009 so we are less than ten days from arguably the most green holiday of the year - St. Patrick’s Day. It would seem that with all the “Luck of the Irish” sales promotions from local car dealers, we’d hear someone announce a hybrid vehicle contest for Saint Paddy’s. Unfortunately, we’ve found none so far. Not even so much as a ”Wear Green, Drive Green” hybrid discount or a Go Green hybrid rental car special. Seems that none of the auto manufacturers or car dealers are taking advantage of the 3/17/09 green party.
At least there is still hope that a car maker will announce a huge hybrid promo around the more politically correct greenest day (and week). Yep, I’m talking about Earth Day - April 22, 2009 and only 44 days from now. Once again, we turned over every social media stone we could find, and found nothing. With the new Honda Insight, Toyota Prius, and hybrid Ford Fusion so close to market - I would have guessed that one of these vehicles would make its debut on a green holiday, or that we’d see some kind of hybrid marketing campaign during this time. Will it happen?
While we wait and see, how about we point you to a few places we did find free car giveaways?
1. Fuel Up The Family and Win! Pizza lovers have a chance to win a lot of prizes in this contest sponsored by Red Barron, Tony’s, and Freschetta pizza. Schwann’s is giving away lots of gas cards, pizzas, and most importantly a 2009 Toyota Prius! You need to enter by March 31 and May 31 (2 promo periods) and you are “out of luck” so to speak if you reside in Alaska, Hawaii, or Washington D.C.
2. Spring Awakening Sweepstakes. Better Homes and Gardens ran a similar contest in 2007, and they are giving away another free car in 2009 to celebrate their new Garden Channel. This time around, it is a 2009 Toyota Prius (surprise!) valued at $28,000 and supplied by Messina Wildlife. I believe you can enter for this one every day between now and June 1, 2009 so set your calendar reminder and get to it.
3. Ted’s Montana Grill. From what I can tell, it doesn’t matter if you live in Montana or another state that isn’t Montana - you can register to win this (wait for it…….) 2009 Toyota Prius! This has to be the most web 2.0, social media kickin’ hybrid giveaway I’ve seen so far. They are talking about Facebook and Youtube videos all over this website. Anyway, you need to register by the end of this month (March 31st) and this one is more creative than just filling out a form.
4. Drive Green This Spring. This one hurt my head, so I’ll let you decide if you’re eligible (must live in the Hampton Roads DMA) . Appears to be sponsored by WTKR-TV Channel 3 in Norfolk, Virginia along with Charles Barker Toyota from Virginia Beach. They too are giving away a 2009 Prius and you have to register by 3/30/09.
5. We Race You Win. This contest is for a 2010 Ford Fusion, and they are promoting the hybrid Fusion all over the landing page, but I think the giveaway is a non-hybrid Fusion. Last chance to enter is 11/15/09 but the sooner the better on this one. Take a look and let me know…I’ll check with Scott Monty as well.
6. Purex Saves Green. Okay, this is not a hybrid car giveaway but it’s still worth mentioning. How would you like to win a Smart Fortwo? Purex is giving one away, and they want you to create a tote with an eco-friendly slogan by no later than April 30, 2009. Hey, put your creative hat on and get at it…just in case you don’t win a hybrid.
7. America’s Greenest School. You can’t drive this to the office, but for all of you with school age kids, here is your chance for your child to help their school win a hybrid bus! Submit an essay before April 30th and this one ends May 17th, 2009. Sponsored by IC Bus…this could be the biggest hybrid giveaway ever (valued at $200,000).
Daylight savings is getting the best of me now and I still haven’t found a hybrid SUV contest. I guess these hybrid giveaways will have to keep you busy until I do. If you run across any other ones, please add them in the comments below. As always…I wish you the best of luck (even though it’s not St. Patricks or Earth Day just yet)!

I am trying to enter the Vehicle Sweepstakes and cannot seem to find the entry form. I am so desperate to win a new Vehicle. I try to enter every sweepstakes I can. We own a 1994 Pontiac Transport that needs so many repairs and the paint looks awful. I am a senior citizen who is about to lose my home of twenty eight years. My husband is disabled since 1994 and I am very ill and not able to work. We will never own a new vehicle in our lifetime. I would love the BMW small suv or my favorite a Cadillic Escalade would be a God send. Thank you Grace Cruz
I would love the opportunity to win a hybrid vehicle (any vehicle for that matter lol).. preferably one economical and environmentally sound)..
I’ve been a Rapid Transit Passenger with Metro buses and trains since 2006. Although, I believe I make a difference with one less car on the road it makes for a very long, stressful day.
I’m a 57 year old female and my health is failing. I live in the San Fernando Valley.. the heat of summer and rainy cold winters take a toll on my health.
The City of Los Angeles could do better equipping bus tops with shelter and benches and security.
I’d love to feel safer and more independent as a driver again. I’m currently seeking employment as I was laid off August 2008. I’ve depleted the money I saved for a car in using it for living expenses.
I’ve a current, valid license, good driving record and financially able to afford insurance, registration and maintenance.
I owned a used Accura Integra though it had a head gasket leak and at the time I was unable to afford the repairs. My mechanic advised I’d be better off selling it for parts which I did lol
I feel I’m deserving of a vehicle. Thank you for your consideration. Bless you
Sincerely, Donna Henry
I would love to win a new hybrid car. I am currently driving only 1/4 to work and that is it, because the entire chassee when put up on the stand yesterday is flaking off with wholes in it. I don’t have any money at all, nor for food.
I am so scared to drive it and was told yesterday if there is an accident it will literally be dangerous. My entire chassee is rotted out and the mechanic took a pencil and taped the chassee is peeling into shreds of flakes like potato chips and it is so rusted coming off in big flakes leaving big holes.
I have no family, no one to help me, no money at all. I am scared and truly need all the help. I was at the service station yesterday and saw the metal bat which wraps the muffler and it fell off right off rusted and the mechanic (a very good service station) wired it up for me for nothing. Although it is a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier, and had to have a new engine 1 year later, the car is running, but no longer repairable. I hope you can help me. I
Thank you for your consideration.
Desperate seeking sincerely,
El
Im the one who needs a Hybid car.
I am believing the Lord for a new FREE suv and that settles it…………..
The Lord has never failed me yet !
i would like to state that grace cruz is not a senior citizen taking care of her husband. first off a senior citizen would not request an escalade nor a bmw…older demographics do not prefer huge suv’s since most of them have trouble with walking. they prefer a luxury sedan that is practical. i find it highly appauling that she herself would lie to the public to win a car. im sorry but i dont buy her story..none of it add’s up. and this is a hybrid suv giveaway, no where does it cover a bmw nor an escalade. maybe she should have read what was being given away before she made her self look like an idiot..but hey thank you i got a really good laugh!!!
i know this sounds like a tied worn out story but i would love to have a relible transportation i have never owned a new automobile neither has anyone in my family i lost my job in january due to a high risk pregancy i literaly had to chose between my job or the baby since this was my 3rd pregancy i had 2 miscarraiges then my 94 gmc jimmys transmission gave out its to expensive to fix in march we stubbled apon a 96 ford tauraus which caught on fire when i was driving it thats what we get for a 450 deal i guess now i have a 1 month old with no way to get her to the doc or for me to look for a job or where else for that matter i have insurance on automobiles that dont work waste of money so i would to have a relible family suv so we dont have to beg for rides n cancel appts that are needed and so i can be a regular workin person again so my CNA LICENSE Dont go to waste to PLEASE PICK ME i havent ever won anything n what better then something that benefits every aspect of my sorry life
I am one of those that just missed out on “CASH FOR CLUNKERS” “25 year” mark! I guess I’m left to run it into the ground! Well if ANYONE is interested in an 1984 Buick Regal Limited…by all means leave a comment and I’ll seek you!!!Yep…all this hype…and DRAMA! Many of the newer vehicles purchased weren’t necessarily for better fuel economy! I would LOVE to have a car with better mpg! Now all this has car prices on the rise again. Not to mention all the dealers stuck with “clunkers” that may NOT even qualify! Since the “antique” car enthusists are so up in arms, why haven’t they tried to stimulate the market of these “oldies but goodies”…? 1984 Buick Regal Limited FOR SALE!!! Please HELP a college student/volunteer/2 job hard working “antique” car owner that didn’t qualify for the “Cash for Clunkers” program! NO RUST, DRIVES GREAT, Hail damage but still a looker! ONLY 12 MPG!!! Thanks!
Yes I’m taking it in stride, I have a car…but I know what I can and can’t afford. I am grateful for what I have, yet even with an “antique”…I find that it isn’t getting me anywhere LITERALLY! I’d SAVE so much more with DOUBLE the MPG…but I’d be defeating the purpose paying MORE after the “Cash for Clunkers” fiasco on a car that was $2k less just a few months ago!!! Good Luck to ALL of you.
I would love to drive a new hybrid, And I would really love to win ONE…
GOD WILL BLESS ME. I do Believe

My hubby and I desperately need to win a car. We can’t afford it being disabled and poor as dirt. He tries to help me, but he’s doing poorly himself. A good car would really be helpful. Our used car doesn’t have air conditioning and in Fla. you wouldn’t believe how hot it gets in the car. We could easily pass out. Help!
