The CT 200h is sold worldwide, but is mainly directed at the European market. It was presented to the North American market in April of 2010 at the New York International Auto Show. CT 200h Specifications

The CT 200h is powered by the same engine as the Auris and Prius. It is a 1.8 liter VVT-I, four-cylinder, petrol engine that is combined with an electric motor. Together they produce up to 134 horsepower. The CT 200h also comes equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The 2014 CT 200h gets an EPA estimated 43 combined mpg rating.

The chassis of the CT 200h is based on the same platform as the Corolla and the Matrix. It features a rear double wishbone design and a front MacPherson strut suspension. The safety features of the CT 200h include eight standard airbags, vehicle stability control, and the option to purchase a pre-collision system with dynamic radar cruise control. It also has a system called Vehicle Proximity Notification, which puts out a low tone to alert pedestrians that a hybrid vehicle is close, and offers telematics services as well.

Lexus Drive Mode Selector

The 2014 CT 200h comes equipped with the Lexus Drive Mode Selector system. It offers four modes: Normal, Sport, ECO, and EV. All new Lexus hybrid vehicles come equipped with this system. It allows the driver to choose the best mode for their driving situation. The Normal mode gives the best overall mix of efficiency and performance and the power buildup is well calibrated for a progressive increase. This mode is very responsive to most buyers’ normal driving requirements.

For consumers that are concerned with gas mileage, the ECO mode will adjust the throttle response and climate control settings when it’s appropriate in order to maximize fuel efficiency. If you commute short distances or are driving at a slow speed, like city driving, you can also select the EV mode which shifts the engine to run on completely electric power. Lastly, there is the Sport mode which gives a more driver-in-control feeling with a tighter response from the power steering and a sharper response from the throttle.

The Lexus CT 200h

The 2014 model is the fourth model of the CT 200h. It has been a steady seller for Lexus and is also the only dedicated hybrid in the Lexus lineup. Although it is the smallest of the five hybrid models that Lexus offers, the five-door sedan is comparable to its siblings in hybrid value. Critics agree that the 2014 model is a big step up from its predecessor in both the drive experience and the comfortableness of the ride.

The sportier look of the 2014 CT 200h starts in the front with the inclusion of the Lexus spindle grille and updated front and rear bumpers. Lexus also added updated fog lamp surrounds and LED daytime running lights. The sharp new five-spoke 17-inch wheels, larger rear spoiler, LED lighting around the rear license plate, shark fin antenna, and aero-stabilizing fins complete the sporty new look.

The interior of the CT 200h has also received a face lift for 2014. It includes a thinner Display Audio/Navigation screen which features Lexus’ next generation multimedia system. Buyers can also get the optional navigation system that includes Lexus’ generation-two Remote Touch Interface. The CT 200h is Bluetooth equipped and comes standard with dual USB ports. 2014 upgrades also consist of distinctive metallic ornamentation that highlights the cabin’s luxurious trim. The trim is comprised of Parchment NuLuxe and perforated Flaxen leather.

The 2014 Lexus CT 200h is available in six different trim packages including the S, SE, Luxury, Advance, Premier, and F Sport grades. Each package offers its own added benefits. If buyers opt for the F Sport package the vehicle will come equipped with F Sport-tuned suspension and 17-inch 5-twin spoke alloy wheels. It will also have the F Sport mesh grille and a larger spoiler which has two large air ducts. The F Sport model also comes equipped with rain sensing wipers, heated front seats, a power passenger seat, and auto dimming outside mirrors with reverse tilt. Although it’s a little pricier, many critics in the auto industry enjoy this model best.

Consumers that are interested in purchasing or upgrading to a slightly upper-class gas/electric hybrid should certainly check out the CT 200h.  It is the lowest list-priced Lexus, but it is still a Lexus which means you won’t be sacrificing amenities to save a few dollars. The CT 200h is a refined compact hatchback sedan with all the luxuries of a Lexus and an estimated 43 city/40 highway mpg rating.

The base price for the Lexus CT 200h is $32,050. For this price it is very well equipped. The CT 200h is an excellent choice for consumers looking for a hybrid vehicle. The sporty style of the vehicle matches perfectly with the luxury that Lexus is known for. It also has plenty of passenger and cargo room. This would make an excellent family vehicle or would be perfect for a commuter car too. The Lexus CT 200h has appealing traits and it is not hard to see why it has been a best seller for Lexus since its debut.
