Once you buy a hybrid SUV, wouldn’t you like to keep the theme running with the accessories you add to make the car really feel like it’s yours? Here are a few products that will make sure that the after-market supplies you add to your hybrid SUV are as green and eco-friendly as the SUV itself.

  • GPS systems: Drivers of the new GMC hybrid SUVs surely can attest to the benefit of having the OnStar GPS system right on their dash boards, but any driver can enjoy the convenience of having a navigation system – and for pretty cheap! So, what makes a GPS system green? Well, partially, it’s just the nature of the gadget. It runs off your car’s battery, so no additional gas is used and it decreases the amount of back-tracking and circling you’d do if you were just feeling your way around a new city or part of town. The Viewranger is an especially good GPS software system that can be downloaded on to your phone that shows topographic maps that are useful for hikers, boaters, cyclists, bird watchers, and more.

Our favorite is definitely the waterless car wash spray.  A few sprays and a wipe down with an organic microfiber cloth and you’ve just saved time and natural resources!
  • Tire gauges: When the air in your tires gets low, you’ll notice a serious drop in fuel efficiency.  Making sure that you check your tires often is much easier when you have a tire gauge in the glove compartment. A high quality tire pressure gauge and knowing how to check the pressure in your tires are both important.
  • Offsets: Even though your SUV is a hybrid, you are still putting carbon off into the atmosphere. The CO2 in our air is the primary greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. Terrapass is one of my favorite websites because it calculates how much CO2 your SUV is putting off and allows you to purchase a carbon offset, basically donate money to projects that are focused on sustainable energy. ‘
