2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid Update

Silver Hybrid SUv - GMC Yukon 2012The 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid: Solid SUV Credentials plus Fuel Economy

For those looking for the full-sized SUV experience who also want to save some money on fuel, consider the 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid.

The four-door, eight-passenger Yukon Hybrid is designed to meet the needs of an active family or small construction business. The SUV is large, providing plenty of space for passengers, equipment, or tools. It offers up to roughly 110 cubic feet of cargo space, and has a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds. And drivers have a choice of two trims: A Base and the more luxurious Denali trim.

Which SUV hybrid is right for you? Naturally, the choice depends on your driving habits.

If you are a city driver who needs high towing capacity, the 2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid might be the right choice. For a full-sized SUV that seats eight passengers, the 2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid offers an impressive 21 mpg city in the two-wheel drive version and 20 mpg city with the four-wheel drive model.

2010 Yukon Hybrid Options

2010-gmc-yukon-hybrid-suv.jpgLike the sharing that goes on between the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrids, the 2010 GMC Yukon Hybrid is a virtual replica of the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid underneath the skin.  Of course, to some buyers that metal skin is a very important feature, as styling is often one of the key characteristics that makes someone choose one vehicle over another.

2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid Test Drive

2009-yukon-hybrid-from-bob-brown-gmc.JPGI had the opportunity to test drive a 2009 GMC Yukon hybrid SUV last week, and I learned first hand how incredible the Two Mode hybrid transmission really operates. While I won’t go into all of the technical details of this hybrid system here, those of you who are interested can learn more at Wikipedia. Bottom line – had I not known I was driving a hybrid vehicle, with the exception of the engine shutting off at or near stops and the 50% improvement in gas mileage, I really couldn’t tell much difference between this version and the gas-only model. Previous hybrids I’ve driven made it much more obvious with their spongy braking, clunky transition between electric and gas power, and annoying hybrid noises.

Denali Hybrid | New York Auto Show

2009_yukon_denali_hybrid_photo_coming_soon.jpgHere comes another super-sized hybrid SUV. Making its debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show (beginning 4/10/09) will be the next green offering from GMC, the 2009 Yukon Denali hybrid. Those of you who have been following the hybrid industry know that GMC rolled out a non-Denali version, 2008 Yukon hybrid about a year ago. Looks like it is time to take green luxury up another notch.

2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid Becomes 8th Available Hybrid SUV

Yukon Hybrid Now Available!Following on the heels of the eco-friendly Chevy Tahoe that debuted a few days ago comes it’s equally as green first cousin, the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid SUV.  This brings the number of available hybrid sport utilities to eight, with a couple more expected later this year (Cadillac Escalade, 2nd generation Saturn Vue).  The first of these new Tahoes that I was able to find online and at a local GMC dealer had sticker prices of about $60,000.  With a price tag like that, I’m guessing many new owners will be leasing rather than buying these gentle giants.
