Some interesting data on auto manufacturer advertising was released by comScore earlier this week, including several surprising statistics related to SUVs and green vehicles.
This particular study measured online advertising among auto manufacturers during January of 2009. Results were broken down into the following categories:
1. the top advertisers overall
2. the most advertised SUVs
3. the most advertised “Green” vehicles
The Chevrolet Tahoe is available in four models (LS, LT, LTZ, and hybrid) for 2009, ranging in price from $37,915 to $51,405. Now in its second year of production, the 2009 Chevy Tahoe hybrid is mainly unchanged from 2008 with the following exceptions. The ’09 model now has power-adjustable pedals, Bluetooth connectivity, real-time NavTraffic, and OnStar’s stolen vehicle slow down assistance (where OnStar rep’s can decrease the speed of the vehicle in the event it is stolen). Other than that, it looks and drives pretty much the same as it did last year (which is great news in my opinion, as this vehicle won the 2008 Green Car of the Year award from Green Car Journal).
Although the Mazda Tribute hybrid is currently only being sold in California, it is likely only a matter of time before you see this small SUV in local dealerships. It originally arrived on the scene in 2008 to compete with Ford’s Escape hybrid and the Saturn Vue hybrid; however it has its own characteristics that set it apart and make it great for someone looking for a fuel-efficient hybrid SUV. As Mazda’s first hybrid, this SUV shows promise for what’s to come.

Fast forward nearly 18 months and not much has changed. Even as Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, Chrysler, Mercury, Mazda, and Cadillac have joined the previously mentioned manufacturers in offering SUV hybrids, Honda continues to be the most searched and presumably the most sought after eco-friendly sport ute.
