2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

GMC Hybrid Yukon 2008A Google search for “hybrid suv” included a newcomer in the top 10 results this week, and the title really got my attention.  GMC – 2008 Yukon Hybrid | World’s First Hybrid SUV .  Now that’s false advertising clever marketing, and although a more appropriate title might have been “GMC’s First Hybrid SUV”…upon further research we decided that this clever omission of truth was only due to headline contraints, later corrected to read “world’s first two mode hybrid suv”.

The Hybrid Storm is Coming!

2008 Hybrid Storm?So-called experts are now predicting that the ‘Hybrid Storm’ will arrive in 2008, or at the latest in early ’09. While no one knows exactly what it will look like, many believe that it will grab the attention of every car magazine, automotive website, and media outlet around the country. While it may not seem obvious now, there’s a good chance that the second half of 2007 will historically be viewed as the calm before the hybrid Storm. After almost 10 years in the making, it seems the wait is nearly over.

2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid Review

‘08 Mazda Tribute Hybrid ModelThe Mercury Mariner had its turn, and now the wait is finally over for the last Japanese automaker to enter the hybrid vehicle market.  While it might have been more exciting to be reviewing the CX-7h, the CX-9h, or even something called the CX-11, Mazda is dipping their toe into green waters with a hybrid version of their Tribute (c’mon Mazda, we want a hybrid cuv!).  Guessing this will be the last automaker to introduce a small hybrid suv based on the Ford Escape Hybrid, but only time will tell.

2007 Toyota Prius Giveaway From BHG

Let’s just keep this one between you and me, okay?

While I was out scouring the net tonight, searching for the latest hybrid news and any tidbit of information pertaining to hybrid suv’s, I came across a forum post that mentioned a “no purchase necessary to win, $25,000 Toyota Prius Giveaway” at BHG.com.  And while I realize a Prius is not an SUV, I decided to take a look.

Ten Things You Don’t Know About Hybrids

Hybrid InsightsThree years ago, I knew nothing about hybrid vehicles.  Then in 2004, when gas prices went over $2 a gallon for the first time ever, I started hearing about the Toyota Prius (the same year it won several “Car of the Year” awards), the Honda Civic Hybrid, and the Honda Insight.  Since my interest had always been with suv’s, it wasn’t until I laid eyes on the 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid that hybrids really got my attention.  That was in late 2004.
